Organizing & Books

I usually try to keep things organized.  I’m sort of a neat freak but it is certainly not something I am proud of.  It takes time away from my family at times and it takes time away from the things that I want to do like sewing or knitting or reading.  However, before I can sit down and relax with the family or sit down and knit things must be tidy. It’s a vicious cycle that haunts me.  I love that within the last few years there are websites that help the OCD type person that I am.  I absolutely love Paperbackswap and Ravelry to name a couple. Too bad there is nothing close for sewing supplies.  Today I am spending time sitting in front of the computer, going back and forth between my yarn and book stash to make room for new and get rid of the old.  I just finished updating my Bookshelf at Paperback Swap.  Go check it out and see if there is anything you need.  There is quiet the selection because HL and I differ drastically on what we each read.  He is more of a Dean Koontz & Stephen King guy and I’m more of the chick lit, Oprah’s Book Club, vampire romance junkie.  Okay, so basically I read anything that doesn’t scare the crap out of me like Koontz & King.  My best online friend, Chasley, is sending me the Sookie Stackhouse Vampire Series that True Blood is based on. Apparently, it’s all the rave after the beloved Twilight Series.  I’m currently reading Marked part of the House Of Night Series about a vampire finishing school but after Twilight it just doesn’t grab me but I’ve been told to hang on it will get better.  Oh and speaking of paranormal books & series I just found out about The Hollows Series by Kim Harrison.  This one is about witches.  That’s all I know about it but it doesn’t have awesome reviews at Amazon and PaperbackSwap.

For those of you who knit or are just nosey here is my stash at Ravelry.  I’m still updating it but it should be complete by tonight.

After I am finished with that I will move on to what is next on my list…my closet.  HELP!

More Handmade For The Holidays

I finished this beanie for Makinlee a few days ago.

Bean Hat For Makinlee

I love it but I wish I would have taken the time to knit from both ends of the skein to prevent all of the color pooling.  Maybe on the next one I will remember to do that.  I’m sure she will love it since she has been after to me to knit her something.  It’s her special stocking surprise.

Home Sweet Home, Update, & Knitting

HL and I are sitting in our recliners in front of the fireplace happy to be OUT of the car.  The trip to Houston was okay.  12 hours in the car can only be described as okay.  We didn’t find out a lot at the Dr’s office, only what we had already predetermined ourselves.  Maintenance drugs are to be started which include Metformin (yuck) , Omega 3.6.9, Multi/Prenatal Vitamins (already taking both), & Progesterone if needed.  Progesterone will only be used if my cycles do not become regular with the Metformin.  They did before and I hope they do this time as well.  The less hormones the better especially for HL. HA!  A slew of blood work has been ordered for day 3 of my next cycle and on Day 5 it’s back to Houston for a Sono-hysterogram (ouch!!), more blood work, ultrasound to check for any cysts on my ovaries, & a new semen analysis for HL.  Last time all of these came back just fine.  Well, the cysts on my ovaries are there but usually small hence my problem with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  As long as there are no large cysts we are good to go.  I have to say that I was very nervous about meeting with Dr. Allon again.  His practice has grown enormously since I saw him 5 years ago.  I’ve “heard” some negative feedback about him on Soul Cysters however to me he is still the same soft spoken, gentle, & heartfelt Dr I knew.  What a relief it was to see him and his sweet nurse and to feel the care that they have for their patients.  The new clinic is HUGE.  Apparently he purchased a small strip mall and took in the entire building for his office.  Everything is in house so no running here and there for testing, etc.  His clinic also includes ciro/kinesiology, acupuncture, & a full nutrition center.  I plan to take advantage of the acupuncture during fertility treatment, what’s a few more needles, right?  Anyway, this is the plan: December cycle testing and start maintenance drugs to get my body back to as normal as possible.  Then in February when HL returns from Jakarta we will start our first infertility treatment cycle.  The exact time will all depend on my body and it’s cooperation.

On a different note, I did get some knitting done on the trip.  I finished my first Sheepy Sack.  This is a super easy pattern.  All you need to know how to do is knit, purl, & bind off.  I will (hopefully) use this as a cloth diaper soaker in the early newborn days.  No pants or seperate soaker needed making for easy nighttime diaper changes.  It can also be used as a sleep sack.  I absolutely love this yarn.  It is Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) aran weight yarn dyed by Yarn Pirate in the snowcone colorway.

I didn’t work on the Reign Longies picutred in the last post.  The longie pattern is a  new learning process for me and I didn’t want to make any mistakes.  I’ll start on it again this week. I cannot wait to finish them so I can start on a new pair with some gorgeous yarn from Western Sky Knits. YUM!

Our bags are packed, plans are in place for Makinlee and the animals, my knitting, embroidery, & reading materials are on standby for the trip to Houston in the morning.  I’m beginning to get the jitters as if I’ve never done this before.  I’m starting to fear the worse and in the next moment building my hopes up way too high.  This journey has begun and please pray that it’s a short one.  I will update as soon as we get back.  I’ve decided to leave the computer at home this trip.

Knitting & Dreaming

After spending the last few weeks deep in Ravelry and Knitting Help I’ve finally gotten the hang of things. I’m currently knitting the Curly Purly Soaker and I’m finding that the teeny tiny ribbing has me dreaming of teeny tiny bottoms to cover.

Curly Purly Soaker

Whether or not it will happen is out of my hands. I’m praying, wishing, & hoping it will happen naturally. We are now over 7 hours away from our Dr that got us pregnant with Makinlee. We shall see what the future holds. Perhaps a trip to Houston after the first of the year is in store. Perhaps we won’t need thousands of dollars worth of drugs. Hopefully, this time we only need a hope and a few thousand prayers.

Oh My!

Our household has went from 1 child to 4. Help me! My brother and sister in law are moving and I have their kiddos. My brain is fried, I am exhausted, & I want to run and hide. I don’t know how mommas of large families do it. Jeeze you ladies must be walking zombies.

So much has taken place in our lives and in the lives of those close to us. I have felt the need to be there with them instead of here on the internet. I really hope that once school starts and HL returns home our lives will resemble once again so sort of peace and order. Until then I will be in a dark corner silently rocking back and forth until HL comes home to save me.
