  • Can't Get Enough

Because I have nothing else to do

    January 29, 2008

This is what I have been doing today.

    cupcakes

Baking & decorating 24 cupcakes for Makinlee’s class tomorrow.  She has begged me for a school party and I feel I must give this to her before we leave.  I planned on doing it in May at my convenience but that didn’t happen.   Thank goodness my mom and sister in law sent over some super cute Valentine’s decorations.  We are using them a wee bit early but I’m sure the kids won’t mind.

This is what I should be doing today.

    Packing & Sorting

I should be packing and sorting, down sizing, & organizing.  Oh well. I have 6 whole days left.  I’m sure I’ll get to it eventually.  Can you say procrastination?  I work much better under pressure.   Bring.it.on.

    Hello 2008

    January 2, 2008

2008 has not started off great thus far. HL woke up with a nasty cold and my ever so expensive, less than a year old computer crashed. It died. It kicked the bucket. I lost a lot of things including precious photos of our trip to the Philippines. I am saddened but know that I will never forget that trip. Luckily I uploaded a few to flickr. Today was spent lounging around and rebuilding my laptop. I also spent it pondering my New Year goals because I just don’t do resolutions. Here they are in no particular order.
    1. Learn to back up my computer more often. I have a brand new external hard drive attached now for photos and files. I will save future photos. I will! I will!

    2. Get my weight under control. Since moving to Korea I have gained 20 lbs. I don’t know when I did it or how but it is now time to reverse the problem. Today I joined the gym. I will work out 1 hour 4 days a week for starters. I have thrown out the junk foods, white breads, etc. I will eat as healthy as this country allows me to. I am also following The New Glucose Revolution: The Authoritative Guide to the Glycemic Index - the Dietary Solution for Lifelong Health 12 week program. My weight gain stems from PCOS and being Insulin Resistant. Anyone know of a group to join that are following the same program?

    a. drink more water.

    b. drink far less soda. I am an addict. I love Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, & Coke. I am doomed because it is everywhere!

    3. Find time to take care of myself. I need to find the time to stop and do some maintenance on this slowly aging body. Losing weight will help but also taking better care of my skin. I love Philosophy’s products but must take the time to use them properly. Make the time to shave more than once a week. EEK! Paint my toenails before the next blue moon.

    4. Have our photos printed and put into albums. This I must do. I already have the albums and other supplies. It was a goal I set to do while in Korea and our time is slowly passing by. I can actually feel the weight lifted once this task is over.
    5. Continue learning to knit. Tomorrow our knitting circle begins again. I will not be afraid to ask for help. I will not be shy about my newbie WIPs. I will learn. Period. The. End.

    6. Work my way through my craft list. I have 19 items on my “want to do list”. I have almost completed my first project, Wee Wonderfuls Pointy Kitty. There are so many things I want to create that I often get overwhelmed. I have made my list and will try my best not to get side tracked with the new things of 2008. They will simply be saved on my new external hard drive and added to the end of the list. Sounds easy enough, right?

    7. Save Money. Actually save that cash and put it into saving for our little home waiting in Louisiana. I want to completely rock our new home out. Ikea, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma here I come in 2009. What better reason to save the dough? Forget all the cheap Korean knick-knacks, the expensive western dinners, the $9 box of Pop Tarts at the import shop. We are saving that cash for this beautiful copper range hood, that is the focal point of my dream kitchen.

What are your goals or resolutions? What to you hope to achieve? Do you think I have overloaded myself?

Best of luck to each of you in 2008!
